  • 8 feet 6 inches or more wide

  • 13 feet 6 inches or more tall

  • 45 feet long for single vehicles

  • 48 feet long for mobile cranes

  • 75 feet long for combination vehicles

  • 80,000 pounds or more

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, a load requires a rear escort on multi-lane divided highways if the load exceeds:

  • 15 feet wide as measured at the bottom

  • 16 feet wide as measured at the top

  • 110 feet long

A load requires front and rear escorts on multi-lane divided highways if the load exceeds:

  • 150 feet long

A load requires front and rear escorts on undivided roadways if the load exceeds:

  • 15 feet wide as measured at the bottom

  • 16 feet wide as measured at the top

  • 110 feet long

A load requires front, rear, and certified peace officer escorts if:

  • Any part of an oversize load or vehicle extends beyond the left of the centerline on an undivided roadway

Additional escorts may be required by MnDOT.
